Early Works, including Protists: A Coloring Book
Heya, want to see some art I made when I was a teenager? Of course you do.
Most of the work I did when I was younger is no longer in my possession, but I do have a few pieces and I love them. I’m thinking of making a whole section dedicated to them on my website, a museum of Bethy: The Early Years.
I couldn’t tell you exactly when I made this, but was probably about fourteen years old. The first one is a painting on a cardboard panel; you may have seen it used by me as an icon. I don’t reckon I ever completely finished it, but the face is finished and, as far as I’m concerned, as perfect as anything I’ve ever made. The second is actually the back cover to a comic book I started drawing and publishing when I was thirteen.
Another item I recently uncovered from my “files” (my which I mean a pile of junk in the attic) is Protists: A Coloring Book. I was probably fifteen or so when I made this one. It featured drawings of various protists, incredibly corny jokes and text that began:
“Like children, PROTISTS may be small but they’re infecting everything!”

I’ve been thinking of re-releasing this one…
